I have designed this web site to educate the public about massage therapy
and the added courses that Registered Massage Therapists can take to incorporate
into their practice. There are numerous courses we may take but only some are
listed.
Being a Registered Massage Therapist, it is required by our college to take
courses that pertain to our scope of practice. All massage therapists work
different and some specialize in different modalities and others do not. Not all
massage therapists have the same extended courses.
Here in Brantford, there are about 10 RMT members of the Brant Chapter OMTA.
Members are from St. George, Paris and Brantford. One of our goals is to educate
the public in massage therapy the best we know how. One way in which we do this
is on a referral basis. If we know someone that specializes in a certain
technique, the patient is referred to that RMT. We also put informative ads in
the Expositor the third Tuesday of each month. Please feel free to call the
number for a referral to a Brant Chapter OMTA member which is listed in the ad.
I have introduced other modalities to my site that I have been to and
promote very highly to the selected individuals who do these techniques. They
are as follows:
Michaela Sirbu owner of Symmetria has been trained in New York in the Pilates
method of body conditioning. Michaela trained under Kryzanowska Romana who was
personally trained by Joseph Pilate for 28 years. I find her workouts are
exceptional and the hour goes by so fast. Even though she is located in London,
having the proper training is very important when doing Pilates.
Linda Stanley has taken her training in Hawaii. She does a Hawaiian massage
called Lomi Lomi. It is very different from Swedish massage. It leaves you with
a feeling of having been to Hawaii for the massage.
Bev Speechley owns and operates “Forever Changing Healthcare.” Bev has her
Dr. in Acupuncture, is a certified Shiatsu Therapist and specializes in Manual
Lymph Drainage. Her main clientele with MLD is with cancer and lymphoma
patients. She is the only registered MLD therapist in this area. Her
treatments are very affective and relaxing. I found if a patient has had any
operation, getting MLD before and after the operation helps aid in recovery very
fast. As to the scarring, MLD seems to get rid of the scar. If I feel under the
weather, MLD treatments give me a boost and get me back on track to wellness.
Anne-Marie Norris is a certified Rubenfeld Synergist who took her 4-year
training in the states under the direction of the founder Helena Rubenfeld. It
is hard for me to explain this treatment to anyone. You must experience for
yourself. I will say, you feel much better after the treatment than when you
went in.
Shannon Earnshaw does therapy with tuning forks. Using nine tuning forks,
you can feel the vibration go through you as different forks are used. The
affects of this therapy stayed with me for a very long time.
Hope you enjoy touring my web page.
